Polar Consortium admits receiving more $ than ever during economic war

Today no one will call Lorenzo Mendoza, CEO of Polar, the largest food company in Venezuela, “pelucon” (a reference to the popular use of wigs among Venezuela’s), as President Nicolás Maduro usually calls him. Mendoza attended this week a press conference with a perfect haircut.

However, Mendoza put in evidence his math problems. Each time that Mendoza gives number shows his huge dependence of US $ dollars, his speculative vocation and his deep inefficiency.

More $ in lean times
Mendoza revealed that his consortium received $5,954 million during 2004 and 2015 to pay imports. Information available until yesterday with a closing date on December 31st, 2012, adds $3.664 million at preferential rate. With this information, Mendoza gave us a divine revelation: Empresas
Polar received between 2013 and 2015 a total of $2,290 million. It means that in three years ( the last three years of economic war) the oil of all the Venezuelan people allowed that Empresas Polar acceded up 80% of $ currency per year regarding the annual average from 2004 to 2012. It means that Polar passed from $407 million to $763 million in times of “I’m in war, my friend.”

$Polar= Bs2.500
Lorenzo continued playing with numbers and told us that his consortium is such a productive and efficient business that produced up to 14 liters of beverage per each $ that its company received at preferential rate. The question is, how Mendoza calculates each $ dollar? a two-liter bottle of Pepsi-cola is Bs350, which means that Polar turns over each $ at Bs 2.500. This is the free exchange rate that Mendoza plans for the Venezuelan currency?

A modest growth
A reporter asked him about the production fall in Empresas Polar. The famous business owner replied that his company increases its production in 5% by 2015 and added “despite difficulties, we grew.” The problem is that the successful Mendoza promised in August 2014 a growth of 21% in production of cornmeal. Cornmeal is 65% of total production output. However, Mendoza recognized that Polar only reached a quarter of the promised, inefficiency!
